SweetMama We Love: Brenda Ee Kwun
Hometown: Vancouver, British Columbia
Mom to: Alysha (4.5)
Also known as: Global explorer (take that Dora!), foodie and deal hunter, Apprentice wannabe (she loves Donald Trump) and creator of Travellers Deck.
SM: Tell us a bit about yourself?
I love foods from all cultures and shopping for the best deals out there. Started in 2009, Travellers Deck is a handy deck of cards designed for locals and tourists to help get off the beaten track and discover the hidden gems of Vancouver. Before my daughter was born, I was an avid runner, yogi, hiker and loved working out at the gym. Now I just dream about those days and look forward to them after all the kids are born and the business is running on auto pilot!
SM: What’s your secret to raising them fabulous?
Teach them how to be street smart and book smart. Life is tough and if you shelter them from reality, they won’t have the skills to succeed on their own in the real world.
SM: What’s been your biggest challenge in balancing motherhood and the other parts of yourself?
Time. My work day is constantly interrupted by driving her to & from school. Thank God for carpooling!
SM: Knowing what you know now, what’s the one thing you wish you could tell all new moms or moms-to-be?
Breastfeeding a baby is more painful than childbirth, but stick to it and watch the weight fall off! I lost all of my baby weight plus an extra 10lbs breastfeeding (after 18 months) without stepping into a gym!
What is the one item you can’t live without for yourself?
What is the one item you can’t live without for your children?

Sadly, our portable Sony DVD player. It’s got a six-hour battery life and is perfect for long flights (and when you’re fighting to watch the news at home!).
