SM: Tell us a bit about your business?
Preloved creates one of a kind clothing from reclaimed vintage fabrics. Our passion is design and our philosophy is sustainability. Attention to fit, comfort and style has been our driving force. I started the company in 1995, and preloved now has three retail stores, a worldwide wholesale business, a home accessory line, and my labour of love -- the meme line: a collection for the eco-conscious and stylish toddler -- inspired by my daughter!
SM: What’s your secret to raising them fabulous?
Picking your battles! Otherwise you'll spend the entire time fighting with them... instead of having fun with your kids.
So my four-year-old can dress herself for an event as long as she is polite and has a clean face. I'm okay with the fact that she looks like Cyndi Lauper. (She's very into layering!)
SM: What’s been your biggest challenge in balancing motherhood and the other parts of yourself?
The biggest challenge is getting enough sleep... haha! Really it's time management. Trying to balance your days, and prioritizing what needs to be done at work, and what needs to be done at home. All of this is so much easier with a full eight hours of sleep!
SM: Knowing what you know now, what’s the one thing you wish you could tell all new moms or moms-to-be?
Don't be so hard on yourself, and enjoy it! There is so much pressure with milestones, and making sure that your kids are not having a bottle at this age, getting rid of blankets, etc. I promise you, she won't have a soother in her mouth on her wedding day!
What is the one item you can’t live without for yourself?

The one thing I can't live without.. is the Aveda Caribbean Therapy Body Scrub. For three minutes a day while I'm in the shower, I feel like I'm on a Caribbean Island with just my husband.

What is the one item you can’t live without for your children?
 |
Band-Aids! Band-Aids solve every single problem my kids have: "Ouch! Scotty just bit me!" "Here's a Band-Aid!" "Mom, my tummy hurts..." "Well, let me give you a Band-Aid!" I have an endless supply of Spiderman, Princess and Cars Band-Aids.
