SM: Tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m a writer and actor and currently doing a radio column about parenting. Any interesting stories or ideas, please send them on to me!
I love to read, hike, canoe and skydive – no, okay, not skydive. I like pets and, no, wait...hmmm...I like my kids.
SM: What’s your secret to raising them fabulous?
God.
Spanking.
KIDDING. No, okay. So far, they just started off fabulous. I’m hoping that trying to let them be themselves, listening, and encouraging them to talk to me (good or bad) will work. If that fails, I show them Mel Brooks movies while they sleep.
SM: What’s been your biggest challenge in balancing motherhood and the other parts of yourself?
Oy. When the work doesn’t pay for the childcare. Actually, it’s the age-old question. And I really like being with them, picking them up from school, etc. When I don’t, I miss out on what is really going on with them. So, I don’t really believe it’s a balance. I believe you sacrifice things. You let go of some ambition, some “me time,” etc. to make sure you can be there as much as possible for the kids.
SM: Knowing what you know now, what’s the one thing you wish you could tell all new moms or moms-to-be?
Have lots of sex NOW.
It’s really the best thing you’ll ever do. And try not to be too hard on yourself or your partner.

Tylenol Chewables. Blockbuster kiddie DVDs (we don’t have cable). The kindness, patience, and love of family and friends.
