About The Book Fairy
A career Children’s Librarian, the Book Fairy (a.k.a. kittenpie) has worked in library systems in both New York and Toronto. She’s thrilled to have another place to share the books she loves without creeping people out the way she does at the bookstore.

Let’s Do Nothing! by Tony Fucile
Bored. Bored, bored, bored. Baby, are these kids bored! (Sound familiar?) They’ve done everything they can think of, until Sal comes up with the idea of doing nothing. Nothing? He dreams up a series of scenarios in which they stay perfectly still, but Frankie’s imagination keeps running away with him and breaking the spell. Eventually, though, Frankie’s fidgeting launches another big idea – doing something!
These two are a great comedy pairing, and Sal’s snappy patter and lightbulb moments cracked me up, begging to be delivered aloud with great enthusiasm.
This is, in fact, much easier to share out loud than many cartoon-style picture books and -- as an added bonus -- the illustrations put me in mind of my old comic fave Calvin and Hobbes. I have to say, I hope we see these two come back for more adventures, because they are really fun.
If you’ve got a kid starting to hit the summer blahs, this is not only likely to amuse you both with its premise, but might even spark some games of imagination. Who doesn’t love it when their kids get creative like that?
