John Tenniel’s iconic illustrations were largely directed by Lewis Carroll himself, to the artist’s annoyance, but the result is so perfect that it’s been hard for any of the illustrators that followed to shake its influence. If you like a solid classic in its original form, you can’t miss with this lovely edition that includes the sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass. (The true fanatic will want Alice’s Adventures Underground, the original version.)
