Quick! Cut the rice crispy squares. Pour some tea. It’s time for our mommy group. Our guests? Carrie-Anne Moss and Chantal Kreviazuk, of course.
Okay…perhaps we’re stretching the truth. But when we’re reading a book like Between Interruptions: Thirty Women Tell the Truth about Motherhood ($32.95) it’s easy to imagine Canadian celeb mamas dishing it in our own living room.
In this touching compilation of stories, fellow yummy mummies like Spirit Magazine’s Harmony Rice (“My daughter healed me…”) and journalist Katrina Onstad (“You choose [your friends] based on a shared loathing of head lice and those disgusting turkey nuggets shaped like football players…”) divulge tales from Mommyland. And each chapter is as diverse as the author behind them. By the time we’ve downed our tea, we’ve heard about everything from same-sex couples in search of a donor to recording an album immediately following a birth.
Thankfully, the only multi-tasking we’ll have to do is turn book pages while eating our batch of rice crispy squares.
