Sometimes I get more than one e-mail in a day. What’s that about?
We love spreading as much sweetness as we can. If you’re signed up for more than one city, more than one brand (SweetLife, SweetMama, SweetHome, SweetFit), for Sweet Travel or for Sweet Deals, you will receive Sweet Nothing e-mails for each list. In order to keep Sweetspot as a free service, we occasionally send out Sponsored E-mails from our advertisers – never more than once a week and always labelled “From Our Sponsor.”
Where can I find Sweetspot contests or inside news sales?
Our Sweet Deals feature gives the latest news on sales in your city and nationally. Our Contest page highlights our latest contests. You can find both in Contests & OffersYou can also find our contest pages in Rogers magazines such as Flare, LouLou, Chatelaine, and Today’s Parent.
Why am I no longer receiving my Sweet Nothing newsletters?
That is the saddest thing. Here are a few reasons why you’re missing the sweetest things:
a. Our e-mails are bouncing.
This is a mail server error (most likely our Sweet Nothing e-mails are being blocked). Try adding sweetnothing@email.sweetspot.ca, sweetnothing@email.sweetlife.ca, sweetnothing@email.sweetmama.ca, and sweetnothing@email.sweethome.ca to your address book or safe sender list, or have a talk with your mail server administrator or IT support.
If they are unable (or unwilling) to help, you can always change the e-mail address for your subscriptions; we have relationships with many of the larger e-mail providers such as Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo. You can do this by clicking on the “Update Your Profile” link at the bottom of the Sweet Nothing e-mail.
b. Our e-mails are being sent to your junk mail folder.
Sometimes your Sweet Nothings might be mistaken for spam. To put them back where they belong, update your e-mail settings and add the following contacts to your address book or safe senders list:
sweetnothing@email.sweetspot.ca, sweetnothing@email.sweetmama.ca, and sweetnothing@email.sweethome.ca
c. You’ve been unsubscribed from our magical mailing list.
If your e-mail has been bouncing for a long time, you’ll be automatically kicked off the database (sorry for the mix-up!). To re-subscribe, select the “Update your Profile” link from the bottom of a Sweet Nothing e-mail, or go to the sign-up page, enter in your e-mail address (both fields) and hit submit. You will then receive an e-mail containing a link to make changes to your profile.
Please note that if you were unsubscribed due to persistent e-mail bounces you are likely to be unsubscribed again. You might want to read section “A” of this question to avoid any inconvenience.
I am having trouble with a personal task. Are you willing to lend a hand?
We're happy to try!
Send in your questions and we’ll see if we have a story or suggestion that helps. (You might also want to browse through our
Ask An Expert archives, to see if we’ve already covered yours.)
Why haven't we started a Sweetspot Regina, Edmonton ... etc.?
Sweetspot is always looking to grow and expand, we just haven’t reached your city yet. In the meantime, you can still enjoy our National content – in both our newsletters and on our websites – and stay tuned for more updates on our expansion!
Where, oh where, did my favourite story go? I can’t find it in the site archives.
First, you can try the Search function located at the top of each screen. No luck?
Contact us and we'll track it down for you.
Also, your user profile gives you the option of saving favourite finds – and commenting! (We love a compliment or three!)
You’re not doing it for me. How do I unsubscribe?
We’re sorry to see you go. To unsubscribe to the newsletter, click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of your Sweet Nothing e-mails. Want to tell us why? We’re happy to
hear from you.
How do I update my profile information?
Visit the
Update Profile page and login to edit your profile.
Your profile lets you save your favourite finds, put a vacation stop on e-mails, comment on articles and enjoy some exclusive sales.
How do I change the e-mail address that my Sweet Nothings are being sent to?
Select the “Update Profile” link from the bottom of any Sweet Nothing e-mail. If you don’t have a Sweet Nothing saved, go to the sign-up page, enter your e-mail address and press submit! An e-mail will be sent to you with a link to update your profile.

I took your advice and had a bad experience. What gives?
If we’ve written about a business, we had a positive experience with it at the time we reviewed it. Unfortunately, some of our readers don't find the same results. This can be due to policy changes, new staff, or just some poor lady you’re dealing with having a bad day. Please
write to us, and don’t hesitate to contact the business directly.
What is a Sponsored E-mail?
Unlike our regular Sweet Nothings, Sponsored E-mails are paid for by advertisers. These are always clearly marked as sponsored content, and we will never send you more than one Sponsored E-mail each week. We will also never sell or rent your e-mail address to anyone. We do our best to work with advertisers who have products and services you might enjoy, and often they provide special deals and offers that are exclusive to Sweetspotters.
Do you actually test the products?
We really do try everything. If we don’t have a positive experience, we won’t write about it. In the same way we wouldn’t recommend a bad product, restaurant or service to a friend (it’s our reputation on the line, after all) we won’t recommend something we don’t believe in to our readers.
Do you only write about expensive things?
Not at all. We like to scour our cities for the latest and greatest finds and always love a good bargain (but we will give in to our fair share of splurges). We like to offer a range from “impulse grab” to “covet and save.” If you’re interested in big savings and exclusive offers, check out our
Sweet Deals!
Who is this “we” I keep reading about?
“We” is the large Sweetspot collective of writers and staff members who work hard to find, test and recommend all things sweet. And since there is no “I” in Team, we like to give credit to the whole “WE.” (OK, so there’s no “we” in team either...but you get where we're going.) Find out more about our mission on our
Editorial Policy page.
Do you get paid to write about the businesses featured in your Sweet Nothings?
We never accept compensation of any kind to feature a business as editorial in our newsletter or on our website. From cash and barters to lengthy love letters, bribery of any form is powerless against our commitment to deliver information we think you would enjoy, based on our personal experiences. Although we sometimes receive sample products for testing, this never influences our decision to write about them.
